TSP Ventures lead £1.1m pre-seed investment into Reaforma, to supercharge calcined clay production and make cost-effective, carbon-negative cement a reality.

20 January 2026 – UK start-up, Reaforma, today announced that they have closed their £1.1m pre-seed investment round, led by TSP Ventures and supported by the Innovate UK Investor Partnerships Programme: Clean Energy and Climate Technologies Growth Catalyst.

This combination of private capital and public innovation funding is a strong endorsement of the company’s mission and approach – and will act as a powerful platform for the next phase of growth.

Reaforma’s core technology utilises enhanced power cycles for the production of SCMs (supplementary cementitious materials) to create carbon-negative calcined clay cement, whilst significantly reducing costs versus incumbent methods. By recovering gases / heat from the calcination of clay (a process that usually requires carbon-intensive fuels), their approach will produce high-quality storable carbon in large volumes, and in parallel, enhance the clay-cement performance to increase its usage in concrete.

Calcined clay is a proven substitute for ‘clinker’ (the principal ingredient in cement – up to 95% in Ordinary Portland Cement). The inputs for calcined clay are abundant; it is cheaper, greener and has been proven to perform at least as well as clinker. The adoption of low cost, carbon negative calcined clay would be transformative in reducing the impact of the $400bn+ global cement market (currently ~8% of total global carbon dioxide emissions).

This funding will allow the team to accelerate product development and deployment as they move from pilot to scale-up, deliver their industrial collaborations with customers, build a new dedicated clay calcination lab and expand the team.

Munraj Sembhi, CEO of Reaforma

Munraj Sembhi, co-founder & CEO of Reaforma said, “at Reaforma, we’re focused on supercharging calcined clay supplementary cementitious materials to maximise its carbon reduction potential. Our goal is to make low-carbon cements truly viable as the industrial world pivots towards climate-conscious engineering. This funding allows us to move faster in turning our vision into a commercial reality.

A huge thank you to TSP Ventures for backing us, to Innovate UK for their continued support, to the Net Zero Technology Centre for investing in our vision. Of course, we cannot forget Carbon13, who took the first leap of faith that ignited this whole journey. Undaunted: The Greenhouse, who, without, we never would have met Co-Founder & CTO – Pablo Ale Martos. Lastly but not least, Climate Launchpad, who provided us the platform where we were first put in touch with TSP Ventures.

And most importantly, thank you to my co-founders Pablo Ale Martos and Haroon Ihsan, and the rest of the Reaforma team who have made this all possible.

Chris Smith, CEO of TSP Ventures said, “we have seen a lot of companies over the years looking to disrupt the construction and building materials space. These companies have tended to fall short on one of a number of fronts…they either lack scale, fail to shift the dial in terms of carbon impact or in most cases, simply cost more than the product they are trying to displace.

That was until we met the team at Reaforma….

Their approach has the potential to deliver cheaper, higher-performing materials whilst at the same time making a major dent in global emissions. It is a truly fantastic payback as we attempt to reduce emissions whilst also delivering economic growth. Big congratulations to Munraj, Pablo and the rest of the team…we look forward to being a part of the onward journey.“
